Bridging Cultures through New Media The Role of the China-ASEAN Youth Broadcasters' Creative Camp Television Program in Fostering International Cooperation and Cultural Exchange
Abstract
The China-ASEAN Youth Broadcasters' Creative Camp is a dynamic cross-cultural exchange initiative that leverages new media to foster collaboration between young broadcasters from China and ASEAN countries. Since its launch in 2021, the program has produced influential short video series, highlighting themes such as food culture, music, daily life interactions, and youth entrepreneurship. Through innovative content, the initiative has enhanced Guangxi’s international image, promoted cultural exchange, and facilitated regional cooperation.
This paper employs a qualitative research method, analyzing the impact and effectiveness of the program through content analysis of the video series and participant interviews. Despite its successes, the program faces challenges, including limited representation of ASEAN cultures, insufficient technical resources, and a lack of professional mentorship for participants. To address these issues, strategic recommendations include expanding cultural coverage, increasing investment in production resources, and strengthening professional training. Furthermore, young broadcasters, equipped with linguistic advantages and creative skills, play a crucial role in international cultural exchange. With the continued advancement of digital media, they are well-positioned to drive cross-cultural communication and global understanding.
Moving forward, the program should broaden its international collaborations and leverage technological innovations to ensure its long-term impact. By doing so, it can further empower young broadcasters, foster deeper intercultural engagement, and contribute to global cultural diversity.
