Journal of Intelligent Regional Analysis (JIRA)

About the Journal

The Journal of Intelligent Regional Analysis (JIRA) is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to publishing high-quality research on regional intelligence, spatial analysis, and data-driven decision-making for urban and regional development. JIRA provides a platform for interdisciplinary scholarship that integrates geography, economics, urban planning, environmental science, and data analytics to address challenges and opportunities in regional sustainability, governance, and innovation.

Aims and Scope

JIRA welcomes original contributions that explore intelligent approaches to regional analysis, including but not limited to:

  • Spatial and economic analysis of urban and regional development

  • Smart cities and digital governance

  • Regional economic intelligence and forecasting

  • Data-driven policymaking and urban informatics

  • Sustainable infrastructure and smart mobility

  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing applications

  • Social and environmental impacts of urbanization

  • Artificial intelligence and machine learning in regional studies

We encourage submissions that present innovative methodologies, comparative studies, case studies, and theoretical advancements in the field.

Article Types

Full-Length Research Articles

  • 6,000–9,000 words

  • Original research with significant contributions to the field

Review Articles

  • 5,000–8,000 words

  • Comprehensive literature reviews with critical analysis and synthesis of existing research

Case Studies

  • 4,000–6,000 words

  • In-depth examinations of specific regional projects, policies, or technological applications

Viewpoints

  • 1,500–2,000 words

  • Thought-provoking commentaries or discussions on emerging topics and trends in regional analysis

Special Issue Proposals

  • JIRA welcomes special issue proposals on timely and impactful themes. Special issues should consist of 6–10 articles. Proposals should be sent to the editor and will be subject to peer review.

Peer Review Process

JIRA follows a double-anonymous peer review process, ensuring the anonymity of both authors and reviewers. Submissions undergo initial editorial evaluation before being sent to at least two independent reviewers. Final decisions are based on reviewers' recommendations. Authors may appeal editorial decisions through a formal process.

Manuscript Submission

Manuscripts should be submitted online via the JIRA manuscript submission system. Submissions must be in editable formats (.doc or .docx for text, .TIFF, .JPEG, or .EPS for figures).

Manuscript Structure

Title Page

  • Article title

  • Author names and affiliations

  • Corresponding author’s contact information

Abstract

  • Maximum 250 words

  • Summarizes research objectives, methods, key findings, and conclusions

  • Avoid citations and abbreviations

Keywords

  • 3–7 keywords for indexing

Highlights

  • 3–5 bullet points summarizing the key contributions (maximum 85 characters each)

Main Text

  • Clearly structured sections: Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusions

Tables and Figures

  • Submitted as separate files

  • Captions provided for each

  • Cited appropriately in the manuscript

Declaration of Interest

Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest. If none exist, include: "The authors declare no conflicts of interest."

Open Access

JIRA is an open-access journal. Authors are responsible for the Article Processing Charge (APC) upon acceptance.

Ethics in Publishing

Authors must adhere to ethical guidelines outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Misconduct such as plagiarism, data fabrication, or improper authorship attribution will not be tolerated.

Data Sharing and Reproducibility

JIRA encourages authors to share supporting data through repositories. A data availability statement should be included in the manuscript.

References

  • Citations must follow APA style.

  • All references cited in the text must be listed in the reference section.

Supplementary Material

Authors may submit supplementary materials such as datasets, multimedia, or extended analyses for online publication alongside the article.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.
