<p>The <strong>5th International Forum on Surrounding Communication of Geographical Indications in China</strong> will take place from <strong>November 7 to 9, 2025</strong>, at the <strong>Academic Exchange Center, Jiangbei Campus, Zhejiang Guangsha Vocational and Technical University of Construction (ZGUC)</strong>, in Dongyang City, Zhejiang Province. The forum is jointly organized by the Service Office of the Geographical Indication Industry (SOGII) at the China Centre for Promotion of SME Development, the Research Center of Surrounding Communication (RCSC) at Peking University, the Institute of Surrounding Communication (ISC) at Huaqiao University, and the China Institute of Surrounding Communication of Geographical Indications (CISCGI).</p> <p>With the theme <strong>“Strengthening the construction of Geographical Indications in China and promoting the upgrading of the Chinese economy”</strong>, this year’s forum will address a wide range of topics, including the current development of the GI industry, patterns of surrounding communication, database construction, legal frameworks, and the integration of GIs with cultural tourism and ecological value.</p> <p>The forum is now open for submissions. Scholars are invited to submit <strong>academic papers or speech outlines (3,000–5,000 words)</strong> relevant to the conference topics. Outstanding contributors will be invited to attend the forum, with round-trip transportation and accommodation expenses covered by the organizing committee.</p> <p>The conference will be held in a hybrid format (both <strong>online and offline</strong>). <p>This column is a permanent feature of <em>JGTSS</em> and serves as a strategic cooperation platform with the Center for Peripheral Communication Studies at Peking University. It is dedicated to advancing the systematic development of China’s original <em>Peripheral Communication Theory</em> and fostering global dialogue.</p> <p>The <em>Surrounding Communication Theory</em> was first proposed by Professor Di LU in 2013.
